for this month’s d.i.y we used feathers as the running theme for our 2 simple projects. Love the first project, a simple feather garland that only requires 2 items, feathers and gold twine which we now carry at our store. All you have to do is measure the length of your garland and tie a feather in equal lengths, that’s it!
The second d.i.y. requires a little more patience but still simple to do. I wanted to make an all white dreamcatcher using only the feathers as my source for color.
-gold circle frame
-1 doily that is slightly smaller than the diameter of the circle
-2 clusters of feathers, 1 small length , and 1 large length
Tie the doily to the circle frame (you want the look to be taut). Secure the doily all the way around the frame. Then cut the yarn and tie them to the bottom of the frame. Once you have enough tassels at the bottom, cut them to the shape you’d like… I used a v shape when cutting. Now for the for the feathers. First attach the large size feathers evenly along the bottom, then attach the smaller feathers on top so that the bottom of the frame is full.
Can’t wait for you to try this! Happy dreaming ❤
so thrilled with our family photos that I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you. Loved how these images captured real moments of us being as normal as we could be at the beach. Going through the images, I loved how the images truly showed the real dynamic of our family.
The funny thing about this day and even weeks leading up to the shoot was the natural stresses any mom goes through when trying to get ready for a family shoot…the coordinating outfit, hair, shoes stress and the jitters you get, hoping that your kids are going to cooperate just so that you can get that ONE picture….of course the stress was all worth it and I couldn’t be happier.
summer is officially here and we couldn’t be happier to share this season’s look book with you!
A special thank you to everyone who made our Summer Lookbook possible…To our beautiful models, Amanda Hawks, Ashley Hawks, and Bobbie Beale. We had such an amazing time capturing these looks with you ladies~beautiful inside and out!
And of course to our dear friend and photographer Corey Villicana~thank you so much for your amazing vision and talent. It has truly been such an amazing journey working with you~so blessed!
For this post, I wanted to share a summer vegetarian lunch you can prepare in about 30 min. Inspired by a lunch my cousin Daniel prepared for our family, I wanted to replicate his simple and healthy meal. The main dish requires between 4-6 ingredients and can all be added to one deep pan.
1 tablespoon of garlic paste
1 package of firm tofu
1 cup of Trader Joe’s Soyaki Sauce
1 package of frozen stir-fry vegetables
1 pinch of chili flakes (optional)
1 tablespoon of sesame seed oil (optional)
Add the frozen vegetables, tofu, garlic, and Soyaki Sauce all together in one deep pan. Stir all the ingredients gently together so that the tofu doesn’t break. Because the sauce has a lot of flavor, you don’t have to add sesame oil, but if you like the flavor of it, add a little for taste. I also like adding a pinch chili flakes for a little heat. Cover the pan for about 10 min. and your dish is ready to eat. You can eat it alone or on a bed of white or brown rice.
Kale salad mix at your local grocery store
Girard’s Champagne Dressing
To get rid of the bitter taste of kale, Daniel suggests to mush the dressing into the kale mix with your hands. Mushing it helps coat the kale with more acidity to help get rid of the bitter taste. Put as much or as little dressing you would like and in less than 5 min, you have a tasty kale salad that requires only 2 ingredients.
This meal has definitely been a favorite in our home! Being a busy mom, a can truly appreciate how fast, easy, and healthy this meal is. Thanks Daniel for sharing this recipe with us ❤
My favorite season is finally here and in the spirit of summer, here’s 2 simple DIYs that you can use for yourself and for your home.
Inspired by my favorite blogs, I wanted to try a simple all natural body scrub to prep my body for the beach. All you really need are 3 ingredients, regular white sugar, brown sugar, and olive oil, simple ingredients that most of us have in our pantry. If you want, feel free to add some coconut oil and some fragrant oils like tea tree or lavender.
Ingredients and Directions:
1 cup of white sugar
1 cup of brown sugar
1/2 of olive oil
Add the dry ingredients first and then the oil. Mix all the ingredients into a bowl and you’re done! Super easy scrub that makes enough for yourself and your friends.
When I was preparing for this DIY, I wanted to make something you could use for entertaining guests in the summer and that was again simple to do. I love fun DIY projects but complicated DIYs intimidate me and I don’t really have the patience for them. Here’s a no sew project you can do with a new line of products that we now carry at Fashion 5. I love these colorful twine from We Love Citrus! Not only are they great for wrapping gifts, you can use them for craft projects just like this one.
Materials and Directions:
Twine, yarn, or string.
Make 4 sets of braided twine. Tie the 4 braided twine to the corners of the doily, Put the mason jar into the middle of the doily and bring the braids up together. You now have a beautiful summer hanging planter for your home.
Have a beautiful summer and thanks again so much for taking the time and reading our blog LIV3.
In honor of Earth Day, I wanted to celebrate the beauty of nature. Inspired by all the different ideas on how-to embellish simple terra cotta pots from Pinterest, I wanted to recreate some of my favorite pins for you. What I love about each of these ideas is how truly simple they are to put together. I also love the fact that you don’t need a lot of materials or time to complete these projects. All I needed was spray paint (oops..not really earth friendly), paint, and the terra cotta pots. My favorite find this week was the adorable mini green house that I now have displayed on my kitchen counter, practical and beautiful. Love having fresh herbs in my home.
Hope this gave you some inspiration to bring a little nature into your home. For more inspiring ideas, follow me on Pinterest.
