feather diy

for this month’s d.i.y we used feathers as the running theme for our 2 simple projects.  Love the first project, a simple feather garland that only requires 2 items, feathers and gold twine which we now carry at our store.  All you have to do is measure the length of your garland and tie a feather in equal lengths, that’s it!

The second d.i.y. requires a little more patience but still simple to do. I wanted to make an all white dreamcatcher using only the feathers as my source for color.

-gold circle frame

-1 doily that is slightly smaller than the diameter of the circle

-gold twine

-2 clusters of feathers, 1 small length , and 1 large length

Tie the doily to the circle frame (you want the look to be taut). Secure the doily all the way around the frame. Then cut the yarn and tie them to the bottom of the frame. Once you have enough tassels at the bottom, cut them to the shape you’d like… I used a v shape when cutting. Now for the for the feathers. First attach the large size feathers evenly along the bottom, then attach the smaller feathers on top so that the bottom of the frame is full.

Can’t wait for you to try this! Happy dreaming ❤

october clothes

love this time of year! Fall is the perfect time to darken up your wardrobe with bolder darker colors and of course layers!! Add some of our favorite new kimonos, boho cardigans, and sweaters. Let the new month and season also be the time to try something new in your day-to-day looks…I’ve been trying to be a little more daring with prints. You’ll be surprised that you CAN where 2 different prints together and there’s subtle ways to do it. Something I tried today was mixing a tribal print long maxi with a different tribal print kimono, something I would have never done but was pleasantly surprised when the 2 looked beautiful together…the outfit looked more thoughtful and relaxed all at the same time. I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and try something new for fall.

Inspired by our beautiful new postcards from Quill and Fox, I created a 3-D version using real succulents and air plants.
Because my husband Jeff is the artist of the family…I had him sketch out the terrarium using the postcard as a guide. I then mixed a few colors together to paint the outline.
Now comes the fun part. I’m all for projects that require me to visit the local flower market. But if you don’t have a good flower market near by, you can always visit your nearest nursery. When choosing the succulents I made sure to grab ones that had different shapes and textures. Adding air plants and branches gave me the finishing touches my canvas needed.
The obvious downfall to this project is that you can’t really glue the plants down onto the canvas since they probably won’t last long. You could use silk or plastic flowers as another option but I personally love using live plants.
Absolutely loved the finish project…and absolutely adore our new Quill and Fox postcards…in stores now.

The last day of summer is this Saturday, September 21…
I can’t think of a more perfect way to end the season then with these cute and healthy popsicles.
Personally I’m not a big fan of coconut milk or water but my husband Jeff loves it, so this recipe was inspired by him.
Add a mix of half coconut milk and half coconut water into each popsicle mold. Add your favorite berries or fruit into the mold. I used fresh raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries. For extra flavor, I added some fresh mint into each mold as well. If you feel that your popsicle needs a bit of sweetness…add some raw sugar into each mold. Freeze for about 5 hours.

Run each individual mold under warm to hot water to get the popsicle out of the mold. Serve immediately (of course) and enjoy!
Goodbye Summer!
